CALS Boiler Info<\/h2>

The state of Maryland requires all model boilers to be inspected and a license issued that is good for one year.\u00a0 The state will recognize other State inspected boilers but not club inspected.\u00a0 The Maryland State Inspectors can be reached at 410-767-2990 for questions or to setup an appointment for the inspection.\u00a0<\/p>

Calculations for Traction Effort, Curves, and Boiler<\/h2>

My thanks to Rich Dean for pointing out an error on the boiler Staybolt calculation.\u00a0 I apologize for any problems this caused.<\/b><\/p>

Here are some sample of the spreadsheet program available in Excel . \u00a0 There are three parts, one will calculate the max load that an engine can pull up different grades.\u00a0 Another will find the Versine of a curve (draw a line between two points and it will show the distance from the center of the line to the edge of the curve. \u00a0 Useful for deciding how much flex is needed in the engine wheels.)\u00a0 The last part has the Maryland Boiler Code calculations.\u00a0 All of these are for guidance only and should not be the sole basis for any designs.\u00a0\u00a0Download the program here<\/a>.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

From L to R are John O’Dea and his Mogul, “DOC” Kinzer and his Mogul, Ed Diehl’s Pacific, Ed himself is missing, Lou Koehler and his blue Atlantic, Leo Chism with his Pacific, Larry Kirchner and his Mikado, The arm belongs to Skip Rollins while the Pacific belongs to Lou Kohler, yes we do have two different Lou’s.<\/p>
